Underbelly and OneCity Trust are delighted to confirm that their relationship is set to continue and develop further with today’s announcement of a special Gala show at this summer’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe of Danny MacAskill’s Drop and Roll, which will raise thousands more for the Trust’s work fighting inequality and exclusion in the City of Edinburgh.
The Fringe Gala will take place on 7 August at 7pm at Underbelly’s Circus Hub on the Meadows with a dedicated performance of Danny MacAskill and Duncan Shaw’s Drop and Roll show from which Underbelly will give £15 from every ticket to OneCity Trust. 50 tickets to what is currently Underbelly’s most popular show this Fringe will also be given free to OneCity Trust beneficiaries.
Today Charlie Wood and Ed Bartlam, directors of Underbelly, met the Lord Provost of Edinburgh and Chair of OneCity Trust, the Right Hon. Frank Ross to hand over a cheque from Edinburgh’s Christmas and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay for £29,284.
Charlie Wood and Ed Bartlam, Directors of Underbelly said: “Underbelly is delighted to support OneCity Trust because it makes such a positive impact on local communities across Edinburgh now and for the future. The gala show of Drop and Roll will be one of those ‘only in Edinburgh’ moments at the Fringe and we’re so grateful to Danny and Duncan for helping make it happen, we are all looking forward to welcoming the 50 OneCity Trust beneficiaries to see this spectacular show. And Underbelly is currently working on new opportunities for Edinburgh’s Christmas and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay to continue to support OneCity Trust and to raise money to support the people of this city.”
Frank Ross, Right Hon Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh and President of the OneCity Trust, said: “A huge thank you to Underbelly and every single person who visited the Torchlight Procession and Silent Light last winter. By taking part, you have helped the winter festivals raise £29,000 for the OneCity Trust.
“This money will go directly towards supporting community initiatives in all corners of the Capital, helping us to fund fantastic projects which tackle poverty, inequality and exclusion. And, the best bit is, this is only the start! Underbelly’s brand-new summer event – The Fringe Gala – will star Danny Macaskill and Duncan Shaw and is bound to be an August hit. I’m thrilled the OneCity Trust has been chosen as the event’s official charity partner.”
Duncan Shaw, Drop and Roll Founder & Trials Rider, said: “We're delighted to support such a great cause on our doorstep. The whole Drop and Roll team are looking forward to the Gala performance and raising lots of money for OneCity Trust.”
