A Guide to our Street Party hosted by Johnnie Walker Line-Up

15th November

Our Street Party hosted by Johnnie Walker has an epic line-up of musicians, bands and DJs. Find out more about them here and get ready to dance in the streets on 31.12.19.

WAVERLEY STAGE

Our Waverley Stage is always a party, but especially this year with Marc Amond, The Ninth Wave, Keir Gibson and PorkPie taking to the stage. Thinking about heading straight there? We'd reccommend entering the Street party arena at the East End of Princes Street.

Marc Almond

He needs no introduction really. Singer-songwriter Marc Almond is an absolute legend in the music industry. Almond’s career has spanned 4 decades and he has sold over 30 million records.

Song to listen to: One of his newer songs, A Kind of Love.

Keir Gibson

18-year-old Keir Gibson is a young singer-songwriter from Fort William who blends electronica, pop and folk into a heady blend of styles, citing Coldplay and Wesley Schultz (of The Lumineers fame) as influences. His debut single came out this year and he is on the up up up!

Song to listen to: His debut single, Eyes Wide.

The Ninth Wave

The Ninth Wave are a noise pop duo from Glasgow, comprising of childhood friends Haydn and Millie, who take their influences from 80’s new wave and goth pop.

Song to listen to: Used to be Yours or New Kind of Ego, we can’t choose!

PorkPie

Love Ska revivalists like The Beat, The Selecter, Madness and The Specials? Then you’ll LOVE Scottish Ska band, Porkpie. Full brass section. Keys. Guitar, Singer. They fit the full ska band mould and, in their own words, "play with an intensity and energy that will have you skanking into the night."

Song to listen to: Their cover of 10outof10 is a real 10/10

HIGH STREET STAGE

Our brand new High Street Stage in Parliament Square is going to go OFF with a full Scottish line-up of Idlewild, The Snuts, VanIves and Shooglenifty. Want to be there? Head into the Street Party arena at Bank Street.

Idlewild

Scottish indie-rock band Idlewild formed in Edinburgh in 1995 and now their influence over the music scene is undeniable. They have a well-earned reputation for insane live shows, so expect something special.

Song to listen to: It has to be Roseability, right?

The Snuts

Scottish foursome The Snuts, who hail from West Lothian and formed at school, are gaining popularity fast, with their massive indie tunes spreading like wildfire online. Trust us, they are very cool. You won’t want to miss them.

Song to listen to: All Your Friends will have you up and dancing.

VanIves

Catching people’s eyes from the moment they quirkily launched themselves onto the scene in 2018 in a TEDx appearance rather than a gig, the VanIves are going places. Winners of Best Newcomer at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards last month, expect big things fro this duo.

Song to listen to: Their new single, Friends.

Shooglenifty

Shooglenifty are an Edinburgh-based six-piece Celtic fusion band. They blend Scottish traditional music with everything from electronica to alternative rock and have performed ALL over the world for the likes of Prince Charles and Nelson Mandela… and now they’ll be playing for you!

Song to listen to: Day Eye Wifey, it’s a classic.

JOHNNIE WALKER STAGE
