Party goers at Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations can get an extra special piece of art delivered directly to their smart phone to mark the first countdown event of the London 2012 Festival.

Using augmented reality technology, Edinburgh's Hogmanay will deliver a virtual surprise created specially by one of the official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic poster artists to welcome in 2012 - a year like no other!

How does it work? It's simple. Download the app to your smartphone (remember to leave plenty of time before midnight!). In the run up to the big moment, open the app and point it at Edinburgh Castle - and wait for your surprise as the clock strikes twelve. Don't forget to share your artwork with your friends using the in-built sharing functions.
